Description
God of Sports Expert Verdict on the Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet:
Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is the 2026 generation flagship of the Metalbone line — Ale Galán’s competition racquet, and one of the most powerful padel racquets available in India today. If your game is built around left-side attack, smashes, viboras, and net dominance, this is the racquet Adidas designed for you.- Who it is for: Advanced and professional players who play left side, have solid overhead technique, and want maximum explosive power. This is a point-finishing weapon, not a rally-building tool.
- What it does best: The diamond shape and head-heavy balance concentrate mass at the top of the face for devastating smash power. The Carbon Aluminized 16K face delivers a crisp, direct impact feel with fast ball exit on every attacking shot.
- The honest caveat: Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is demanding. The stiff face and tight sweet spot punish poor timing and off-centre hits. Players still developing consistency will find it frustrating rather than helpful. If you are below advanced level, start with the Metalbone 3.4 or the Metalbone Team 3.4 instead.
- GOS verdict: When your game is ready for it, the Metalbone 3.5 rewards with match-winning firepower that few racquets in the world can match. It is the most refined Metalbone generation yet.
Technology used in Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet:
- Carbon Aluminized 16K Face — 16K refers to 16,000 carbon fibre filaments per tow — a significantly denser and stiffer weave than the 6K carbon used in the Metalbone Carbon range. Aluminized means the fibres are coated with aluminium, adding further rigidity. The result is an explosive, direct ball exit on every hit — smashes travel faster, viboras penetrate deeper, and the impact feel is crisp and decisive. On court: you feel every shot clearly. There is no softness masking what you are doing, which is exactly what high-level attackers want.
- Weight & Balance System (±11.2g) — Two removable weight plates sit inside the frame at positions you control. Place both weights at the top of the racquet and the balance shifts head-heavy — maximum smash power. Move them toward the grip and the balance drops — more control and maneuverability. Remove all weights for the lightest, quickest version of the racquet. Total adjustment range is 11.2 grams. An Allen key is included. On court: you can tune the racquet to match the day’s game plan rather than being locked into one fixed balance.
- Low Poly Design — A polyhedral (multi-faceted) design applied to both the frame and the core. Instead of a smooth round profile, the flat-angled surfaces create a stiffer, more rigid structure with less flex during impact. On court: more of your swing speed converts directly into ball speed. Less energy is lost to frame deformation.
- Extra Power Grip (Extended Handle) — The handle of Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is longer than standard padel racquets. A longer lever arm increases inertia at the top of your swing — meaning more mass is moving at speed when you make contact. On court: your smash feels heavier. Your overhead carries more weight. Particularly noticeable when you accelerate fully on attacking shots. Also useful for two-handed backhand players who need extra handle length.
- Octagonal Structure (8-Edge Carbon Tube) — The frame is built as an octagonal carbon tube rather than a round profile. Eight flat edges increase torsional rigidity — resistance to frame twist on off-centre contact. On a round-profile frame, a mishit causes the frame to rotate slightly, losing power and direction. The Octagonal Structure holds firm. On court: off-centre hits still return with authority rather than spraying wide.
- Power Groove — A structural rail embedded into the edge of the frame in the head zone — exactly where diamond racquets carry maximum mass and face maximum flex under load. The Power Groove reinforces this zone, adding rigidity precisely where the frame is most stressed. On court: your hardest smashes land with more stability. Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is at its absolute best when you are hitting your hardest.
- Spin Blade Decal — A three-dimensional embossed relief pattern across the face surface. The raised texture increases friction between ball and face, generating more spin on every shot. The Decal variant gives cleaner, more consistent spin application than the sandpaper Gritt texture — suited to advanced players who want precision over raw grip. On court: your viboras and bandejas carry more natural rotation. Spin becomes a weapon rather than an afterthought.
- EVA Soft Performance Core (Low Density) — Despite being a maximum-power racquet, Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet uses low-density Soft Performance EVA rubber in the core — not the stiffer High Memory EVA of the HRD+ range. This deliberate choice cushions impact slightly, protecting arm health over long sessions while still delivering excellent ball output. The black handle cap identifies this core type. On court: explosive power from the face and frame, with enough comfort in the core to keep your arm healthy through extended play.
Performance Analysis of Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet:
- Smashes and Viboras (9.5/10) : This is where Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is at its absolute best. The head-heavy balance concentrates mass at the top of the face, giving your smash genuine momentum before you even fully extend. The 16K Aluminized Carbon face transfers that momentum directly into the ball with minimal flex — the result is one of the fastest ball-exit speeds available in a consumer padel racquet. Viboras feel authoritative and penetrating; the diamond shape and high sweet spot position mean the ball exits with pace and angle simultaneously. The Spin Blade Decal surface grips the ball naturally at the top of the swing, loading spin without requiring an exaggerated wrist action. On Indian artificial grass courts specifically, the Metalbone 3.5’s smash lands hard and bounces low — opponents rarely have comfortable time to reset.
- Bandeja and Lobs (7.5/10) : Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet can absolutely produce effective bandejas and lobs, but these shots require more technique than on a round or softer-faced racquet. The stiff 16K face does not help you here — there is no dwell time to feel the ball and adjust; you either place it correctly or you do not. Bandejas are powerful and deep when timed well, but the tight sweet spot and diamond shape mean a fractionally mistimed bandeja flies long more often than on a round model. Defensive lobs are workable but not the racquet’s natural habitat — you have to actively slow your swing and consciously soften the contact rather than letting the racquet do the work. Where the 3.5 excels is on offensive lobs hit at full swing speed — the kind designed to pass opponents at the net rather than simply reset the point.
- Volleys and Blocks (7.5/10] : At the net, Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is a strong performer for players with sound positioning and early preparation. The head-heavy balance injects natural weight into the ball on aggressive volleys — even a compact punch volley carries real pace. Fast volleys against hard-hit passing shots are manageable if you are already in position; the Octagonal Structure prevents the frame twisting on forceful incoming balls. Where it asks more of you is on reactive reflex volleys — balls hit directly at the body at pace — where the racquet’s weight and tight sweet spot demand faster preparation than a lighter or rounder model. The 3.5 is not the racquet that bails you out of poor net positioning; it rewards good positioning with authoritative volleys rather than covering your errors.
- Defense and Wall Play (7/10) : Defense is the Metalbone 3.5’s weak area — by design, not by accident. The head-heavy balance slows the racquet’s movement in rushed defensive situations, where milliseconds of preparation time determine whether you get the ball back. The stiff 16K face transmits pace directly rather than absorbing it, so fast-paced balls from opponents require more arm strength to redirect than on fiberglass or softer carbon models. Wall play is competent — the racquet picks up rebound balls cleanly when you have time — but on difficult glass situations where you need delicate touch to reset the point, the stiffness works against you. Advanced players who pair Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet with solid defensive footwork find it more than adequate; players who rely on the racquet to compensate for defensive positioning errors will find it less forgiving than round or control models.
Is Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet 2026 Right for You?
Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is one of the most demanding padel racquets in the world. It is not the right choice for every player — and honest guidance on this matters more than a sale. Here is how to decide.- Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet IS your racquet if you:
- Play left side predominantly and base your game on net dominance and point-finishing
- Have 2 or more years of padel experience with solid, confident overhead technique
- Win points with smashes, viboras, and attacking volleys — not extended rallies
- Want maximum ball speed and a direct, explosive feel on every attacking shot
- Have played the Metalbone 3.3 or 3.4 and are ready to upgrade to the 2026 generation
- Are comfortable with a demanding racquet that requires proper timing and physical conditioning
- Consider carefully if you:
- Play right side more than left and rely on defensive control and placement
- Are in your first 18 months of padel or transitioning from tennis — arm fatigue risk is real with stiff diamond racquets
- Want one racquet that performs equally well in both attack and deep defensive situations
- Have any elbow or shoulder sensitivity — the stiffness on mishits can aggravate existing issues
- Are upgrading from an intermediate racquet for the first time and have not yet played with a full-carbon diamond
- Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet is NOT for you if you:
- Are a beginner or playing less than 12 months
- Prefer a large sweet spot and forgiving feel for building consistency
- Play a control and rally-building game style rather than an offensive finishing style
- Play recreationally and prioritise fun and comfort over competitive performance

FAQ's
Adidas Metalbone 3.5 Padel Racquet 2026 is the 2026 generation flagship and the most refined version of Adidas’s offensive padel line. It builds on the 3.4’s Low Poly, Extra Power Grip, and Power Groove with further improvements to frame rigidity and balance precision. In practice, the 3.5 is slightly stiffer and more explosive than the 3.4 with a more head-heavy balance. If you are at advanced level and upgrading from the 3.4, the 3.5 delivers a meaningful performance step up. If you are new to the Metalbone family, the Metalbone 3.4 remains an excellent choice.
Two removable weight plates sit inside the frame. Each plate can hold additional washers and screws, giving total adjustability of up to 11.2 grams. Place the weights high (toward the head) for more head-heavy balance and maximum smash power. Move them low (toward the grip) for more control and maneuverability. Remove all weights for the lightest, fastest version. The racquet ships with an Allen key for easy changes between sessions or during a tournament day.
16K refers to 16,000 carbon fibre filaments per tow — a denser, stiffer weave than the 6K carbon used in the Metalbone Carbon range or the 12K found in many HEAD racquets. Aluminized means the carbon fibres are coated with aluminium for additional rigidity and a distinctive surface response. Combined, 16K Aluminized Carbon delivers maximum energy transfer on impact and an explosive, direct ball exit — the premium tier of carbon technology in competitive padel.
The Metalbone 3.5 is a pure diamond power weapon — stiffer, more head-heavy, and uncompromisingly offensive. The NOX AT10 Genius 18K has a hybrid shape that blends power with versatility and is more forgiving on off-centre hits. For left-side aggressive play at advanced level, the Metalbone 3.5 is the stronger choice. For all-court versatility at the same tier, the AT10 is more adaptable. We cover this in detail in our NOX vs Adidas Padel Racquet comparison guide.
