The notice, signed by the joint commissioner of police, Bidhannagar, states that these restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety and security of the event. The authorities have requested both teams and their fans to cooperate with the security agencies and adhere to the guidelines.

The decision to ban these items comes after the city police and tournament organizers canceled the derby between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal due to security concerns. In a show of solidarity, supporters of both teams gathered near the Salt Lake Stadium to protest the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College.

As the Durand Cup enters its final stages, Bengaluru FC faces a formidable challenge against defending champions Mohun Bagan. The Kolkata giants have scored 10 goals and conceded only three, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive resilience.

“We’re not expecting a revolution, but rather the beginning of one,” said Sukumaran, the owner of the Forca Kochi team, during the team’s launch event. “We hope this league will provide opportunities for grassroots players and help them achieve greater heights.”

The Kochi team boasts an impressive roster, including six foreign players: Brazilian Raphael Augusto, Tunisian Said Mohamed Nidhal and Dziri Omran, Ivory Coast’s Nangui Mockey Jean Baptiste, South African Ngubo Siyanda, and Colombian Rodriguez Ayoza Luis Angel. Former Indian goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury also joins the team.

Additionally, the squad features several players from I-League clubs and Kerala’s Santosh Trophy team, such as Nijo Gilbert, Arjun Jayaraj, and Hajmel Sakkeer.

Sukumaran emphasized the importance of developing a strong foundation for football in Kerala. “We need to create a system where young players have access to quality coaching, facilities, and opportunities to compete,” he said.

The Super League Kerala aims to provide a platform for talented players to showcase their skills and aspire to higher levels of competition. By attracting foreign players and partnering with experienced coaches, the league hopes to raise the overall standard of football in the state.

Former Olympic hockey bronze medalist P.R. Sreejesh, who unveiled the Kochi team’s jersey, expressed his support for the initiative. “Football has the power to unite people and inspire young minds,” he said. “I’m confident that the Super League Kerala will play a significant role in promoting the sport in our state.”

Lemos’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Forca Kochi FC, which is still awaiting the arrival of two foreign players and five Indians. However, Lemos remains optimistic about the team’s chances in the league.

“I would say we have 70% of the team. The (Kerala) Police players are yet to come, they are the more experienced players…all the young ones have come,” said Lemos.

Lemos is confident that he can prepare the team for the first match of the league against Malappuram FC on September 7.

“I have to find solutions, I have to adapt. I think everybody is going to have some problem, it’s a new league, it’s normal. To be honest, I’ve been in worse situations…sometimes, I’ve had lesser time. Two weeks give me some time to work, I think I have a good idea what I want to do. In two weeks I can really push them for the first match,” said Lemos.

Lemos’s experience and determination will be crucial for Forca Kochi FC’s success in the Super League Kerala. The league is expected to be highly competitive, with several other teams also aiming to make a mark. However, Lemos is confident that his team has the potential to challenge for the title.

Eriksson’s reputation as a top-class manager grew with his move to Benfica in 1989. He led the Portuguese giants to two Primeira Liga titles and the 1991 European Cup, becoming the first Swedish coach to win a major European trophy.

In 1997, Eriksson took over at Lazio, where he enjoyed his most successful period as a manager. He won the Serie A title in 1999-2000, the Coppa Italia in 1998 and 2000, and the UEFA Super Cup in 1999.

Eriksson’s achievements at club level earned him the England job in 2001. He inherited a golden generation of players, including David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Steven Gerrard. Under Eriksson’s guidance, England reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, as well as the 2004 European Championship.

Despite his success with England, Eriksson’s tenure was not without controversy. His decision to leave the team after the 2006 World Cup to join Manchester City was met with criticism. He later managed Manchester City, Leicester City, and Shanghai SIPG, but never replicated the success he had achieved earlier in his career.

Eriksson’s legacy as a manager is undeniable. He was a charismatic and innovative coach who helped revolutionize the game. His ability to get the best out of his players and his tactical acumen made him one of the most respected managers of his generation.
