In a thrilling encounter at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis’s blistering start was abruptly halted by a stunning one-handed catch from San Francisco Unicorns counterpart Corey Anderson.

After Finn Allen’s century (101 off 53) propelled the Unicorns to a formidable 200 for 6, du Plessis unleashed a fiery response, smashing 45 off 22 balls. However, just as he threatened to seize control of the chase, Anderson’s brilliance at mid-off extinguished his hopes.

In the fifth over, Carmi le Roux’s delivery found the toe-end of du Plessis’s bat, sending the ball soaring towards Anderson. With lightning reflexes, the former New Zealand allrounder extended his left hand and plucked the ball out of the air, landing gracefully before kicking it in celebration.

“He is street smart… he is one of the best T20 players in the world at the moment,” Shastri said. “He is a match-winner on his own, walks into the team day in, day out in that format of the game on his own steam, so I think it is not a bad idea at all.”

Shastri also stressed the importance of Suryakumar understanding and managing India’s diverse bowling options.

“One thing that he (Suryakumar) will have to learn from his side is what are the strengths of his bowlers and what are their limitations,” Shastri said. “I never say a bowler has a weakness, I say a limitation, and then there are strengths. And then focus on the right things and set fields accordingly. I think that is what he will have to learn.”

Shastri believes that Suryakumar’s captaincy style will be similar to his playing style.

“I think it will [captaincy style] be much like his personality, the way he plays the game,” Shastri said. “He will be thinking very quickly and the fact that he knows all these players, even the senior players, I think he will be in a great position to handle the team.”

Kolkata will host both the semifinals and the final, which will be held on August 31.

“There are not enough of certain foods: eggs, chicken, certain carbohydrates,” Anson told The Times newspaper. He also raised concerns about the quality of the food, citing instances of raw meat being served. “They have got to improve it over the next couple of days dramatically,” he emphasized.

To address the issue, Team GB has decided to fly in a chef to prepare meals at their performance lodge in the Clichy district of Paris. “Our athletes have decided they would rather go and eat in our performance lodge in Clichy, so we are having to get another chef to come over as the demand is far exceeding what we thought it would be,” Anson explained.

The Athletes Village restaurant, which can seat 3,300 people, prepares approximately 40,000 meals daily. A spokesperson for the organizers acknowledged the concerns and stated that they are working to “increase supplies.”

Anson emphasized the importance of providing athletes with adequate nutrition to optimize their performance. “We are trying to make sure our athletes have an advantage by having more food. It is the biggest issue at the moment,” he said.

The food situation at the Paris Olympics Village has become a significant concern for Team GB, highlighting the challenges of catering to the dietary needs of thousands of athletes from around the world.
