Jessica Pegula Celebrates 100 Consecutive Weeks in WTA Top 10
Jessica Pegula, the American tennis star, has achieved a remarkable milestone by spending 100 consecutive weeks in the WTA’s Top 10 rankings. This impressive streak began on June 6th, 2022, when she rose from No. 11 to No. 8 after a quarterfinal run at Roland Garros.
Since then, Pegula has consistently maintained her position among the elite, spending 84 of those 100 weeks within the Top 5. Her career-high ranking of No. 3 has been achieved for 35 weeks. Currently ranked No. 5, Pegula’s streak is the fourth-longest active streak in the WTA Top 10, behind Aryna Sabalenka (181), Iga Swiatek (131), and Ons Jabeur (117).
Pegula’s success in 2024 has been notable, with a 14-6 record and three semifinal appearances in Adelaide, San Diego, and Charleston. She also reached the quarterfinals at the WTA 1000 in Miami. However, injuries have also plagued her season, including a neck injury that forced her to miss the Middle Eastern swing in February.
Despite her absence from the Mutua Madrid Open due to another ailment, Pegula’s Top 10 streak remains secure. In the 2023 clay-court season, she fell in the opening match in Rome and the third round in Paris.
Pegula’s consistency and resilience have been key to her success. She has proven her ability to compete at the highest level, consistently reaching the latter stages of major tournaments. Her 100-week streak in the Top 10 is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and unwavering determination.
