Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 Returns with Grand Opening in Hyderabad
The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is set to make its grand return on October 18, 2023, with an electrifying opening match between the Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls in Hyderabad. The league has witnessed a remarkable journey over the past decade, and the upcoming season promises to be even more thrilling.
Ahead of the new season, a grand launch event was held in Hyderabad, attended by PKL League Commissioner Anupam Goswami and team captains Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans) and Pardeep Narwal (Bengaluru Bulls). The event also featured an exhibition match between PKL captains and a team of prominent creators, showcasing the league’s commitment to engaging with a wider audience.
Goswami expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, emphasizing the league’s focus on building on its success and taking it to new international horizons. He highlighted the immense support and pride that players have for the sport, which has helped rediscover its world-class status in India.
Telugu Titans captain Pawan Sehrawat expressed his enthusiasm for the opening match in Hyderabad, confident in the team’s preparation and the unwavering support of their home fans. Bengaluru Bulls captain Pardeep Narwal, returning to his former team, expressed his readiness for the challenge ahead, emphasizing the team’s balance and eagerness to make a strong start.
The PKL 11 auction witnessed historic moments, with eight players being sold for over INR 1 crore. The second match of the opening evening will feature a clash between U Mumba’s Sunil Kumar, the most expensive Indian defender in PKL history, and Naveen Kumar, one of Dabang Delhi K.C.’s star raiders.
This season, the PKL returns to a three-city format, with the first leg taking place in Hyderabad from October 18 to November 9. The second leg will be held in Noida from November 10 to December 1, followed by the final leg in Pune from December 3 to December 24.
