Rishabh Pant Slams Fake News About RCB Transfer

Star Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has vehemently denounced the spread of false news regarding his potential transfer to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Pant took to social media to express his frustration and anger towards an individual who had disseminated baseless information on the platform. The user had alleged that Pant’s management had inquired about the possibility of him becoming the captain of the RCB team, but Pant had ultimately declined the offer.

The user further insinuated that this decision was influenced by a political agenda, taking a swipe at senior batsman Virat Kohli in the process.

In response, Pant strongly condemned these claims, emphasizing the importance of responsible reporting and the need to verify facts before making such statements. He urged the individual to exercise more caution when sharing information on social media.

“Fake news. Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media? Be sensible guys so bad. Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out. Please always re-check with your so-called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst. Rest it’s up to you guys. It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc,” Pant tweeted.

Pant’s outburst comes amidst a sensational Test comeback in the opening game of the two-Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai. He scored a magnificent century, re-entering the ICC rankings at an impressive sixth position.

The spread of false news and misinformation on social media has become a growing concern, with individuals often sharing unverified information without considering its potential consequences. Pant’s response highlights the importance of responsible reporting and the need for individuals to be more discerning when consuming information online.

Babar Azam Under Fire for Poor Performance, Fake Retirement News Spreads

Pakistan’s batting mainstay Babar Azam has come under fire on social media for his recent underwhelming performances in international cricket. In the recently concluded two-Test series against Bangladesh, Azam managed a meager 64 runs across four innings, continuing a string of poor batting displays that have failed to yield victories for Pakistan.

Azam’s struggles have sparked a barrage of criticism and false memes on social media, with some even resorting to spreading fake news about his retirement. Following his scores of 31 and 11 in the second Test in Rawalpindi, a fabricated retirement post gained traction on social media.

Despite relinquishing his captaincy after the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, Azam was reinstated for the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, his recent Test performances have been dismal, with only 190 runs in his last 10 innings at an average of 19. His average in the 50-over format has also declined to 34.

In T20Is, Azam has maintained an average of 38 over the past year. Under his captaincy, Pakistan suffered a disappointing group-stage exit at the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies, losing to the USA and India.

Azam’s poor form has raised concerns among fans and experts alike, who are questioning his ability to lead Pakistan’s batting lineup. The pressure on the 29-year-old is mounting, and he will need to find his form quickly to silence his critics and restore Pakistan’s fortunes on the international stage.

Aakash Chopra Slams ‘Fan-Armies’ for Spreading Fake News About Rohit Sharma

Former India batter Aakash Chopra has vehemently condemned “fan-armies” for attributing a fabricated quote regarding India captain Rohit Sharma to him. In a viral post, a fan account falsely claimed that Chopra had advocated for Rohit’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad. However, Chopra has vehemently denied making any such comments and has expressed outrage at the user for misquoting him.

“Aakash Chopra said Rohit Sharma shouldn’t have selected for T20 World Cup. He’s now even failing in powerplay,” the post on X claimed.

Chopra took to social media to express his fury at fan-armies for spreading fake news and questioned whether views and engagement were more important than morals.

“IPL is the best time to spread hate, fake news…and all sorts of rubbish. Fan-armies are there to lap it up always. I often wonder if views/engagement is more important than the morals,” Chopra posted on X.

Chopra’s comments come amidst a time when fake news and misinformation are rampant on social media, particularly during major sporting events like the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has urged fans to be more discerning and to not blindly believe everything they read online.

Meanwhile, Rohit will lead India’s 15-man squad at the T20 World Cup, which also includes four traveling reserves. After skipping T20Is for over a year, Rohit made his return to the T20I side earlier this year during the series against Afghanistan.

Speaking at a press conference earlier this week, Rohit opened up about his break from T20Is, saying that he wanted to focus on the longer formats.

“When T20 World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is. Test cricket is a format that you don’t want to miss and give priority to. That’s what we discussed with the players and the coaches too. Ajit came later. He doesn’t know what was discussed. Whichever format happens, we give priority to that format. As 50 over World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is,” Rohit said on missing T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2022.
