Mike Tyson Expresses Gratitude After Defeat to Jake Paul
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has expressed gratitude for his recent fight with Jake Paul, despite suffering a unanimous decision defeat. The highly anticipated event, which took place on Friday, marked Tyson’s return to the ring at the age of 58.
Tyson, who lasted eight rounds against the YouTuber-turned-boxer, admitted that he was not at his best in the ring. However, he emphasized that he had no regrets about the outcome. “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.”
The fight generated immense hype, with 72,300 fans attending the AT&T Stadium and 60 million households worldwide tuning in, according to telecaster Netflix. Tyson, who had previously revealed that he nearly died in June due to health issues, acknowledged that simply fighting was a victory.
“I almost died in June,” Tyson said. “Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”
Tyson’s resilience and determination were evident throughout the fight, as he stood toe-to-toe with Paul, who is half his age. “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for,” Tyson said.
Paul also took to X to express his appreciation for the fight and the record-breaking viewership. “Love you Mike,” Paul wrote. “Numbers don’t lie. Announcement coming soon…”
Tyson’s performance and the overall success of the event have left open the possibility of another ring return for the boxing great. However, no official announcement has been made at this time.
