Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has expressed his admiration for the team’s passionate supporters, describing them as “amazing” following their 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024.

In a video shared on CSK’s official social media handle, Ravindra praised the fans’ unwavering enthusiasm during Tuesday’s match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Kiwi all-rounder expressed his gratitude for the raucous support, acknowledging the special feeling of hearing the home crowd chant his name.

“I am not sure I am quite a favorite just yet, but, yeah, I mean, the Chennai fans are amazing,” Ravindra remarked in the video. “And I guess it’s always a great, special feeling when you have got fans sharing your name and I mean, I am very grateful for that to happen and it just shows the love and support the CSK fans have for the players. So very, very thankful and hope it keeps on coming,” he added.

CSK shared the video with the caption, “Rachin nation! Here’s some Yellove back.”

In the match, CSK, batting first after being put into bat by GT, posted a formidable total of 206/6 in 20 overs, propelled by fiery innings from Ravindra (46 off 20 balls), skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (46 off 36 balls), and Shivam Dube (51 off 23 balls).

In pursuit of the target, GT faltered as they lost wickets at regular intervals, ultimately managing to reach only 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs and fell short by 63 runs.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad provided solid support, helping CSK reach 69/1 before Ravindra’s dismissal.

Ajinkya Rahane failed to make an impact, but Shivam Dube wasted no time in taking the attack to GT. Dube sent the ball soaring into the stands on two consecutive deliveries, setting the tone for a middle-order onslaught. She led New Zealand’s ODI run-scoring charts with 541 runs at an average of 67, while also being their joint-highest T20I wicket-taker and second-highest T20I run-scorer with 252 runs at a strike rate of 118.

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand Test captain, was named Test Player of the Year and also received the Redpath Cup for men’s first-class batting. Williamson’s consistent performances yielded 619 runs at an average of 56, including four centuries in the six Tests considered for the award. Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner were recognized as the ODI and T20I Players of the Year, respectively.

The Bert Sutcliffe Medal for outstanding service to cricket was bestowed upon Trudy Anderson, who played a pivotal role in the operations of Canterbury Cricket for 21 years. Her contributions extended to major events such as the 2015 ODI World Cup, the 2022 Women’s World Cup, and the 2010 and 2018 Men’s U-19 World Cups.
