Basit Ali Praises India’s T20I Performance, Urges Pakistan to Learn

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has lauded the Indian cricket team’s performance in the second T20I against Bangladesh, highlighting the team’s temperament and the foresight of the coaching staff.

India’s young talent Nitish Reddy shone with both bat and ball, scoring a half-century and taking two wickets as India secured an impressive 86-run victory over Bangladesh in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Despite losing three wickets inside the Powerplay, India recovered to post a formidable total of 221 for 9, thanks to explosive fifties from Reddy and Rinku Singh. The bowlers then restricted Bangladesh to 135 for 9, securing a comprehensive win.

Ali praised the Indian players’ composure and the coaching staff’s forward-thinking approach. “The thought process is very important, which is missing in Pakistani cricket,” he said on his YouTube channel. “India rested Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal but nobody rests in our team. So, please learn something from India.”

Ali particularly commended Reddy’s six-hitting prowess, calling them “Aththe” instead of sixes. He also hailed Rinku Singh’s batting, comparing him to former Australian all-rounder Michael Bevan.

“Gautam Gambhir’s thinking has been a success,” Ali added. “I am not saying that he will win the World Cup straight away. Even if he flops, Gautam won’t stop backing him because they pick players and make them and this is the best example of that.”

In the match, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first. They rattled India early, but Reddy and Rinku built a crucial partnership of 108 runs. Hardik Pandya then fired a quick 32 off 19 balls, helping India reach a big total.

While chasing 222 runs, Bangladesh managed to keep up with the run-rate initially but kept losing wickets consistently. Mahmadullah was the only notable performer with 41 runs off 39 balls, including three sixes.

With this victory, India won the three-match series 2-0. Nitish Kumar Reddy was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding all-round performance.

Rinku Singh Praises Gambhir, Yadav for Empowering Indian Batters

Rinku Singh Praises Gambhir, Yadav for Empowering Indian Batters

Indian batter Rinku Singh has credited head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav for empowering the team to play aggressively and express themselves on the field. Singh’s blistering 53-run knock off 29 balls played a pivotal role in India’s 86-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20I on Wednesday.

“The coach and captain have asked us to play our game and whatever the situation (is), the message from them is maarte jao ball ko (just keep hitting the ball),” Singh said at the post-match press conference.

Singh, who has often batted in the latter stages of innings, was called into action early on Wednesday after India lost three wickets inside the powerplay. He explained his approach, saying, “At the position I play, I get batting at different junctures of the game. Whenever I get batting earlier, my aim is to take singles and doubles and attack the bad balls.”

“When I come to bat with 2-3 overs left, my aim is to hit more fours and sixes. My main aim is to collect more and more runs for the team.”

Singh revealed that the wicket was initially challenging, but he adjusted his batting accordingly. “When the match started, the ball was not coming properly on to the bat. When Sanju (Samson) and Surya bhai got out then Reddy told me that ball phass rahi hai (the ball is sticking on the wicket).”

“I batted accordingly and then the wicket got a little better. We were discussing that we should get a (good) partnership first and get the momentum. We started with singles and then Reddy hit sixes and the momentum changed.”

Singh, who will next feature in the Ranji Trophy, expressed his desire to play in all three formats of the game. “I do see myself as an all format player, wherever I get the opportunity I will play,” he said.

The third and final T20I between India and Bangladesh will be played in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Rinku Singh’s “God’s Plan” Tattoo: A Symbol of Transformation and Destiny

Rinku Singh, the rising star of Indian cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has unveiled the profound meaning behind his new “God’s Plan” tattoo. The tattoo, which features a circle representing the sun and five sixes, symbolizes a pivotal moment in his career that transformed his life.

During the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Rinku’s stunning performance against the Gujarat Titans, where he smashed five consecutive sixes, catapulted him into the limelight. This extraordinary feat not only secured a crucial win for KKR but also marked a turning point in his cricketing journey.

“I keep saying ‘God’s Plan.’ I designed my tattoo based on that,” Rinku explained. “The main aspect of the tattoo is the representation of the five sixes I hit in the IPL. It changed my life, so I thought I would include them in the tattoo.”

Rinku’s inclusion in India’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh is a testament to his remarkable talent and the impact of his IPL heroics. The three-match series, starting on Sunday, will provide Rinku with an opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on social media where Rinku shared the story behind his meaningful tattoo. The video highlights the significance of the five sixes and the profound impact they have had on his life.

Rinku’s journey to the Indian team has been marked by perseverance and determination. Despite facing challenges and setbacks, he has remained steadfast in his pursuit of cricketing excellence. His new tattoo serves as a constant reminder of his resilience and the belief that everything happens for a reason.

As Rinku prepares to represent India in the T20I series against Bangladesh, he carries with him the hopes and aspirations of a nation. His “God’s Plan” tattoo is a symbol of his unwavering faith and the belief that his destiny is in the hands of a higher power.

Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma Could Open for India in Bangladesh T20Is

Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma Could Open for India in Bangladesh T20Is

Former Indian cricket selector Saba Karim has suggested that Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma could form a formidable opening partnership for India in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Karim believes that Rinku’s aggressive style and ability to play big shots would complement Sharma’s more composed approach.

“Rinku is quite a complete player,” Karim said. “If he gets more opportunities, if he gets more deliveries to face, he can add more value to the side. So there is a strong possibility of having that combination.”

Rinku has typically batted in the middle order for India, but Karim believes he has the potential to be a successful opener. “He comes in number six or seven, and he hardly gets any balls to get himself in,” Karim said. “But if he gets more opportunities, he can be a valuable asset to the team.”

India’s squad for the Bangladesh T20Is also includes several other exciting young players, such as Riyan Parag, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav. Yadav, who has been fast-tracked into the team after an impressive IPL season with Lucknow Super Giants, is the fastest bowler in India.

The team will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in excellent form for India in recent months. Hardik Pandya is the only other senior player in the squad, which is a sign of India’s commitment to developing young talent.

India will play three T20Is against Bangladesh, with the first match scheduled for November 27 in Dhaka.

Rinku Singh Reveals Rohit Sharma’s Encouraging Words After T20 World Cup Snub

Despite his impressive performances for Team India, Rinku Singh was surprisingly omitted from the nation’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. However, the young batsman has revealed the encouraging words he received from captain Rohit Sharma after the setback.

“He (Rohit Sharma) came to me and said that it is okay, I’m still young, and there are many more tournaments to come. There is a World Cup every two years, so I shouldn’t be disappointed by this but focus on my game instead,” Rinku said in an interview.

Despite winning the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rinku was left out as India opted for four spin options. However, he was included as a traveling reserve.

Immediately after the tournament, Rinku was included in India’s T20I tour of Zimbabwe, where he played in every game as a middle-order batter. He then starred in the T20I series in Sri Lanka, impressing with the ball by picking up two wickets in the penultimate over of the final T20I to turn the game in India’s favor.

Presently, Rinku boasts an average of nearly 60 and a strike rate of 174 in 17 T20I innings for India. Remarkably, he has remained not out in 10 of those innings.

Rinku also acknowledged Virat Kohli’s style of leadership. “I like Virat Kohli as well because aggression is very important while leading a team. So, his captaincy was also very good,” he said.

Rinku had recently expressed his desire to play for Kohli’s franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) if he is not retained by KKR.

Currently, Rinku is playing in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UP T20), where he is captaining Meerut Mavericks. He has not been included in any of the four squads for the Duleep Trophy to be held in September.

Rinku Singh Excluded from T20 World Cup Squad, Rohit Sharma Offers Encouragement

Rinku Singh, India’s promising batter, was surprisingly omitted from the main squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, despite his impressive performances. However, he was named as a reserve player, sparking discussions among fans and analysts.

Following the squad announcement, Singh revealed insights from his conversation with India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, who offered him words of encouragement. In an interview with News24, Singh shared Sharma’s advice, emphasizing perseverance and the opportunities that the future holds.

“He came to me and made me understand that it was okay; you are still very young. There will be many World Cups in the future. Keep working hard. There is a World Cup every two years, so focus on that. Don’t be disappointed,” Singh quoted Rohit.

Sharma’s message appears to have given Rinku a positive perspective on his future career. According to the young cricketer, Sharma stressed that age is on Rinku’s side and that his chance to shine at the global level would come with ongoing effort and dedication.

Even though he was not part of the main squad, Rinku expressed his admiration for Rohit’s style of leadership and his respect for Virat Kohli’s aggressive approach to captaincy. “I like Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. I like Virat Kohli as well because aggression is very important while leading a team. So, his captaincy was also very good,” Rinku stated.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team successfully ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, further demonstrating the effectiveness of Sharma’s leadership and the team’s cohesion. Despite his exclusion from the main squad, Rinku Singh’s positive attitude and respect for his leaders underline his maturity and potential as a future star in Indian cricket.

Rinku Singh Hints at RCB Preference if Not Retained by KKR

Rinku Singh Hints at RCB Preference if Not Retained by KKR

Rinku Singh, the rising star of Indian cricket, has hinted at his preferred destination if not retained by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the upcoming mega IPL auction. In an interview with Sports Tak, Rinku revealed that if KKR decide not to retain him, his next choice would be none other than Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

“I don’t know anything yet. I haven’t been told whether I will be retained or go into the auction. Let’s see what happens,” Rinku said when asked about his future with KKR. However, when pressed on which team he would prefer if not retained, he responded with a smile, “RCB.”

Rinku, who has been with KKR for several seasons, was part of the franchise’s IPL 2024 title-winning squad. Despite a quieter season due to the ‘Impact Player’ rule limiting his opportunities, Rinku’s potential as a dynamic finisher remains highly valued.

In addition to discussing his potential move, Rinku also shared a good relationship with cricket legend Virat Kohli, who is synonymous with RCB.

“Virat bhaiya gave me a bat, which broke. I asked him for another one, and he didn’t refuse. He gave me another bat. It’s a big thing for me that he gave me a second bat,” Rinku recounted, underscoring the respect and admiration he holds for Kohli.

Rinku also touched upon his experience with Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of the Indian team and his mentor during the IPL. He revealed that Gambhir, known for his serious demeanor on the field, also knows how to unwind after the game.

“He is very serious about the game…but after the match is over, he enjoys himself. It’s not like he’s always serious,” Rinku shared.

As the IPL auction draws nearer, Rinku’s comments have sparked speculation about a possible move to RCB, a franchise known for its passionate fan base and star-studded lineup.

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh Revive Viral IPL Bat Request in Social Media Banter

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh Revive Viral IPL Bat Request in Social Media Banter

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh’s Social Media Banter Reminds Fans of Viral IPL Moment

Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and batter Rinku Singh have engaged in a humorous exchange on social media, reminiscent of a viral video from the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year.

In the IPL video, Rinku was seen requesting a bat from then-Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli. The incident became a viral sensation, with fans amused by Rinku’s bold request.

Now, on the eve of India’s tour of Sri Lanka, Suryakumar has reignited the banter by posting an image of himself talking to Rinku on Instagram. Below the image, he wrote: “Theek hai bat le lena” (Okay, take the bat).

Rinku promptly reposted the story and added: “De do bhaiya bat” (Give me the bat, brother).

The exchange has delighted fans, who have flooded the comments section with laughing emojis and references to the original IPL video.

Suryakumar’s appointment as T20I captain comes after he pipped Hardik Pandya for the role. He will lead India in a three-match T20I series in Sri Lanka, followed by an ODI series captained by Rohit Sharma.

The tour marks the first assignment for Gautam Gambhir as India’s new chief coach after taking over from Rahul Dravid following the T20 World Cup.

Rinku Singh's World Cup Omission: A Grave Injustice

Rinku Singh’s World Cup Omission: A Grave Injustice

In the lead-up to the World Cup, Team India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed that Rinku Singh’s selection was a subject of intense debate. Agarkar explained that the committee prioritized a specific team combination, which ultimately left Rinku on the sidelines. Captain Rohit Sharma’s preference for four spinners further limited the options for the selectors.

However, this decision has raised eyebrows among experts and former players. Rinku Singh, a 26-year-old batter from Aligarh, has emerged as a reliable performer in high-pressure situations. His recent performances in the IPL and T20Is have showcased his ability to deliver under immense pressure.

India’s struggles in knockout matches at the World Cup have been well-documented. The team has failed to replicate its regular season form in these crucial games. Rinku Singh’s inclusion could have provided a much-needed spark to the lower batting order, which has lacked a proven finisher.

Rinku’s statistics speak for themselves. In 15 T20Is, he has remained unbeaten in 7 innings, contributing invaluable runs in each of them. His strike rate of 176 and average of 89 are testament to his ability to accelerate the scoring rate.

In crucial matches against Nepal, Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan, Rinku has consistently delivered under pressure. His unbeaten 37 against Nepal, 31 against Australia, 46 against South Africa, and 68 against Afghanistan were all match-winning contributions.

Despite his impressive form, Rinku was relegated to the reserves, while players with inferior recent performances were selected. This inconsistency in selection logic has raised questions about the decision-making process.

The omission of Rinku Singh from the World Cup squad is a grave injustice. His ability to perform under pressure and his proven track record in high-stakes matches make him an invaluable asset to any team. India’s chances of success at the World Cup would have been significantly enhanced with Rinku in the lineup.

Rohit Sharma Consoles Rinku Singh After T20 World Cup Snub

Rohit Sharma Consoles Rinku Singh After T20 World Cup Snub

After India’s T20 World Cup squad announcement, captain Rohit Sharma engaged in a conversation with Rinku Singh, who was omitted from the 15-man roster. The encounter occurred at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, prior to the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders match.

Despite his exclusion, Rinku appeared cheerful during his chat with Sharma, who arrived at the stadium after a press conference with BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Former SunRisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody commended Sharma’s leadership and communication skills, highlighting his honesty and upfront approach with Rinku.

“That’s great leadership right there. Making sure you’re upfront and honest. It’s easier to speak to someone when they’re included in the squad, it’s always hard to speak to someone who has been left out. That’s why Rohit Sharma is so highly-regarded around the playing group. He is a very good leader. He’s got those soft skills, which is so important around communication,” Moody said.

Agarkar acknowledged the difficulty in selecting the squad, particularly regarding Rinku’s omission. “It’s probably the toughest thing that we have had to discuss, frankly. I mean, he has done nothing wrong, nor a Shubman Gill, for that matter. You know, it’s again, the combinations. We are not quite sure what conditions we’ll get, so we wanted to try and have enough options,” he explained.

Agarkar emphasized that the decision was not a reflection of Rinku’s abilities but rather a matter of selecting the best possible combination for the team. “It’s just unfortunate. I don’t think it’s anything to do with Rinku Singh. It’s not his fault that he has missed out. It’s more the 15 that we felt gives (India the best chance). With two keepers who are both terrific batters, there is already an extra batter sitting out,” he said.
