The 2025 football transfer window is open. And you must have seen many big players making the switch either for a hefty pay or more game time.
From Florian Wirtz moving to Anfield to Dean Huijsen deciding to play for his dream club, Real Madrid, we have seen a lot of players making headlines during the transfer window.
Here’s a list of the top football player transfers that you need to know in 2025.
Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool)
Arne Slot’s first Premier League season went great, but he wasn’t able to replicate the magic in the UEFA Champions League. So, the man is on a mission. The Dutch manager has signed 22-year-old midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster transfer worth an initial £100 million, with £16m in potential add-ons.
Wirtz was also of interest to the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid before, but Liverpool were the club most keen on signing him and the club he was most keen on signing for.
Wirtz, who has signed a five year deal stated, “Every time I spoke to one of the [people from] the club I felt like, ‘this is the place I want to be’ and so in the end I was really 100 per cent convinced I want to join Liverpool and it was the best choice.”
Wirtz is a record signing for Liverpool as the previous highest they ever spent on was Uruguay’s Darwin Nunez, who was signed for £85m.
Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool)
Liverpool are on a mission to defend their title. After their record-signing Wirtz, the Reds have signed striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Premier League champions put the initial fee at about £69million ($93.4m) with a further £10m possible in add-ons. Their German counterparts report the top figure could stretch to €93million (£79m; $107m) if the extras are achieved.
Ekitike, who has signed a six-year contract at Liverpool, had a breakout campaign in 2024-25, scoring 15 Bundesliga goals in 33 appearances. He also struck four times as Frankfurt reached the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford to Manchester United)
After weeks of ongoing discussions, Manchester United have finally landed their priority target. Former Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo has decided to make the switch to Manchester United for a fee of £65m rising to £71m with add-ons.
The Camerron international hit new heights in the 2024-25 league season, finishing with a career-high 20 goals to help Brentford to a solid 10th-place finish in the Premier League. Only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) scored more league goals.
The versatile Mbeumo thrived on the right wing and also impressed as a centre-forward, proving indispensable for Brentford by starting every league game last season.
He joined the London club from Ligue 2 side Troyes in 2019 and made 242 appearances, scoring 70 goals and providing 51 assists.
Matheus Cunha (Wolverhampton Wolves to Manchester United)
Manchester United are in serious trouble. After finishing in the 15th position in the Premier League, the English club are making moves really fast. And the first one among them is the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wolves.
The Brazilian forward signed a new contract with Wolves in February, which was merely the precursor to a big summer move for the attacker.
A release clause worth £62.5m was added to his contract, which United wasted no time in activating at the earliest opportunity in June.
Cunha has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of an extra year. He will be expected to play as one of two attacking midfielders in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth to Real Madrid)
What is a transfer window without Real Madrid? After signing English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for free, the Spanish giants have decided to bring Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth to Santiago Bernabeu.
Huijsen has completed a £50m move to Madrid, which takes him back to the country he grew up in.
Huijsen’s time in the Premier League was short and sweet after Bournemouth bought him from Juventus for £12.8m last summer, following a loan spell at Roma.
Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting to Arsenal)
Arsenal have signed Sweden forward Viktor Gyokeres, bringing an end to the Premier League club’s years-long search for a prolific goalscorer.
Gyokeres completed a move from Sporting Lisbon worth a reported 63 million pounds ($85m) and signed a five-year contract.
The 27-year-old striker joins Arsenal after establishing himself after two outstanding seasons in Portugal, in which he fired Lisbon to back-to-back league titles with 97 goals, including 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 season, outscoring the likes of superstars Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.
Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan to Manchester City)
Pep Guardiola had a torrid season. After failing to lift any silverware during the 2024-25 season, Guardiola has decided to bolster his squad with some more quality.
Serie A’s best midfielder in 2024/25, Tijjani Reijnders, has made a move from AC Milan to Manchester City for a fee of £46.6m rising to £59.2m with add-ons.
The midfielder has signed a five-year contract with City and wants to work closely with Guardiola and bring more laurels for the English club.
Franco Mastantuono (River Plate to Real Madrid)
Real Madrid is really on a signing spree. After getting the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, the Spanish giants have also secured the signing of 18-year-old Franco Mastantuono.
Having forged a reputation as one of South American football’s top prospects, Mastantuono recently became Argentina’s youngest ever debutant.
Real Madrid were in no mood to see him end up anywhere other than the Bernabeu, triggering a release clause in his contract worth £38.5m.
Jean-Clair Todibo ( Nice to West Ham United)
After having a disastrous Premier League season, West Ham United seem all set to push above their weight this season. The club have made their loan signing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice permanent.
During the 2024-25 season, Todibo played 29 times for West Ham during his loan spell, and they have had to pay the equivalent of €40m to keep him at the London Stadium.
Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolverhampton Wolves to Manchester City)
After spending five years at Wolves, Rayan Ait-Nouri has made the move to Premier League giants Manchester City.
The 24-year-old Algerian international has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after the clubs agreed a fee of £31m.
“I am incredibly happy and honoured to have joined Manchester City. City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the chance to play for the club is a dream come true,” Aït-Nouri said. “I am also so excited about working with and learning from Pep [Guardiola] and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world-class group of players.
Rayan Cherki (Lyon to Manchester City)
Another day, another Manchester City signing. Manchester City have completed the signing of Rayan Cherki from Lyon for a transfer fee reported to be around €36m (£30.5m) plus add-ons.
The 21-year-old, who has made almost 200 appearances for Lyon and earned two France caps, has signed a contract until 2030.
“This is a dream for me,” said Cherki after completing his move. “To be joining a club like Manchester City and have the opportunity to make the next step in my career here is something very, very special.”
Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur)
After signing Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich, Spurs’ new manager Thomas Frank made the move permanent for a fee worth £29.8m.

The French forward has signed a contract with Spurs for seven years until 2031 to stay in north London.
Liam Delap (Ipswich Town to Chelsea)
The new era at Chelsea has begun fantastically. After managing a top-four finish during the 2024-25 Premier League season, Chelsea has decided to bolster their squad to add more quality and depth to their squad.
The English club have strengthened their attack by completing the £30m signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Delap, who has signed a six-year deal, chose to join Chelsea after receiving pitches from Everton, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.

Known for his pace, direct running, dribbling ability and work rate, he is widely regarded as one of the best wing-backs in the world.
The former Bayer Leverkusen player has signed a six-year deal that keeps him at Anfield until 2030. At Liverpool, Frimpong will join his Dutch friends, including the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch.

The 17-year-old has already built a strong reputation in South America as one of the most exciting talents around due to his skilful dribbling and electric pace, causing defences plenty of problems in his breakout season in senior football.
Estevao appeared for 62 games at Palmeiras, scoring 18 goals. At Palmeiras, Estevao was the club’s fourth youngest player when he debuted during the 2023-24 season.
Jobe Bellingham (Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund)

Bellingham, who joined Sunderland from Birmingham for £1.5m in the summer of 2023, is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude, the England international who spent three seasons with Dortmund before moving to Real Madrid.
Confirming his signing, Bellingham Jr. stated, “I’m very happy to be a Borussia Dortmund player now and to fight for titles together with this great club. I want to play my part in celebrating success with these great fans here and will work on myself and with the team every day. And I’m very happy that I’ll be wearing the black and yellow jersey at the Fifa Club World Cup.”
Joan Garcia (Espanyol to Barcelona)
The La Liga champions have brought in a new stopper from their cross-city rivals. Espanyol’s Joan Garcia has signed a six-year deal with Barcelona as competition for Marc-André ter Stegen.
Garcia played in all 38 of Espanyol’s La Liga games last season after helping them win promotion to the Spanish top flight the year before.
Garcia’s €25m release clause was activated to facilitate the first transfer of his professional career, with a big future in store at Barcelona.
Luis Henrique (Marseille to Inter Milan)
Inter’s loss to PSG at the finals of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League has made them go back to the drawing board and find the missing chinks in their armour.
One such missing chink is getting a quality winger. Luis Henrique, the Brazilian winger, has made the switch from Marseille to Inter Milan for a fee worth £19.4m, plus add-ons.
Henrique, a freshly signed Inter talent, will be appearing for the Serie A giants at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

He will officially join Galatasaray on July 1 as a free agent, with his Bayern deal expiring at the end of June.
Nuno Tavares (Arsenal to Lazio)
