"Built for one job — and it does it hard."

The Maxbolt Gallant Tour is Maxbolt's attacking flagship. Maxbolt builds it at 85 ± 3g with a 300 ± 2mm balance point, rates the frame to 43 lbs and labels its play style "Attack". At GOS it is a 3U racket with a stiff shaft and a 40T carbon graphite frame — a combination that turns a fast, full swing into heavy, steep smashes and deep clears.

Smashes are its outstanding zone, and the 43 lbs rating lets advanced players string it tight for a crisp, controlled attack. The honest limitation is everything that needs speed rather than weight: a 3U, head-heavy, stiff frame is slow to bring back in fast net and defensive exchanges, and it gives little help to a swing that is not yet developed. For an advanced player who wins points from the back of the court, it is a serious attacking weapon at its GOS price point.

What is the
Gallant Tour?

01 / 08

The Maxbolt Gallant Tour is the attacking flagship of Maxbolt's Gallant series. Maxbolt lists it at 85 ± 3g with a 300 ± 2mm balance point, a standard 675mm length, a 43 lbs tension rating and an "Attack" play style. At GOS it is sold as a 3U racket with a G5 grip, in Black or in White with a full racket cover included.

Everything about the build points one way. A head-heavy balance puts mass behind the shuttle, the stiff shaft returns a fast swing directly into the shot rather than storing it, and the 40T carbon graphite frame is rated to 43 lbs so advanced players can string it tight for a crisp, precise attack. It is not a racket that does the work for you — it rewards a player who already generates racket-head speed.

The Gallant Tour's defining decision is weight plus stiffness. A 3U head-heavy frame carries more momentum into the smash than a 4U one, and a stiff shaft sends that momentum straight into the shuttle. The result is a heavy, steep attack — at the cost of the speed and forgiveness that lighter, softer rackets give in fast exchanges.

Want the same attacking character in a lighter frame? The Gallant Tour Limited Edition (Dragon) is the 4U version at GOS — a little quicker to swing, for players who find 3U heavy over a long match.

Technology
breakdown

04 / 08

A stiff shaft on a 3U head-heavy frame — why make the attacking racket this demanding?

Gallant Tour — stiff shaft

Wrist Exit Direct · heavy · precise
✓ Maximum attack for a fast swing

Alternative — medium-flex shaft (Gallant Force)

Wrist Exit Whip assist · more forgiving
Easier power, less bite
Material
40T carbon graphite frame

A high-grade carbon frame that stays firm under the high string tension the racket is rated for, keeping the string bed stable at contact.

Strings
43 lbs tension rating

Maxbolt's rating for the frame — high enough for advanced players who string tight for control and a crisp feel. Most players still get the best results well below the maximum.

Zone-by-zone assessment

Zone Rating Performance Assessment
Smashes 93 Exceptional The racket's identity. 3U head weight and a stiff shaft give a heavy, steep smash for a player with a fast swing.
Control 84 Good The stiff shaft and high-tension string bed keep attacking shots precise — for a player with clean technique. Mistimed shots are punished more than with a softer frame.
Flat drives 84 Good Drives come off heavy and direct, though the head weight makes consecutive fast drives harder to keep up with.
Net play 77 Good Firm net kills when you get there early; tight, quick net exchanges favour a lighter-headed racket.
Defence 76 Good Solid on blocks when set, but fast smashes to the body are hard to recover from with this much head weight.
Maneuverability 74 Adequate Honest limitation. A 3U, head-heavy, stiff frame is slow to bring back in rushed exchanges — the price of its attacking weight.

Real on-court situations

Situation Level What the player feels
Full jump smash from the rear court Exceptional Heavy and steep — the frame's whole purpose.
Deep clear under pressure Exceptional Head weight carries it to the back line with a full swing.
Steep half-smash or drop Good Precise off the stiff shaft when the swing is clean.
Mid-court drive exchange Good Heavy drives, but falling behind in a long, fast exchange is possible.
Net kill when arriving early Good Decisive and firm.
Smash straight at the body Adequate The head weight makes quick recovery hard — get the racket up early.
Late in a long match with a tired arm Adequate 3U and stiff ask a lot — this is where the 4U Dragon edition helps.
