Dan Evans’ 6-0, 7-5 loss to Denis Shapovalov in the opening match ended Britain’s chances of reaching the last eight. Felix Auger-Aliassime sealed Canada’s victory with a 7-6 (8), 7-5 win over Jack Draper.
In other group action, Serbia secured a place in next year’s qualifiers with a 3-1 win over Greece, led by Novak Djokovic’s victory over Ioannis Xilas. The Netherlands also clinched a spot in the Finals despite a 2-1 loss to Italy, thanks to a decisive doubles win by Wesley Koolhof and Botic van de Zandschulp.
Spain defeated Australia 2-1 to win Group B, while Argentina and Canada advanced from Group D. Finland and France were eliminated. In Group A, the Netherlands advanced despite a 2-1 loss to Italy, while Brazil missed out on qualification.
In World Group 1, Tomas Berdych will take over as captain of the Czech Republic, replacing Jaroslav Navratil. Berdych, a former world No. 4 and two-time Davis Cup champion, will lead the Czechs in their quest for a third title.
