Bryson DeChambeau to Headline Inaugural International Series India in 2025
Indian golf fans are in for a treat in 2025 as reigning US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau is set to make his debut in the country. The International Series India, a new elevated tournament sanctioned by the Asian Tour and backed by LIV Golf, is expected to be announced soon.
The tournament, which will be held from January 30 to February 2, will mark the first time an International Series event is held in India. It will also be the first time a reigning Major champion has played in the country since golf was introduced by the British in 1829.
DeChambeau, known for his unorthodox but highly effective approach to the game, has expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play in India. “I have never been there, but it’s a country that has fascinated me,” he said. “I have always loved being a global player and I greatly enjoy playing in as many countries as possible.”
The tournament is expected to feature several LIV Golf stars, including DeChambeau’s Crushers team members Anirban Lahiri, Paul Casey, and Charles Howell III. Lahiri, the only contracted Indian and Asian player in the LIV Golf League, believes DeChambeau’s presence will be a major boost for Indian golf fans.
“I think it will be massive for Indian golf fans if Bryson is there,” Lahiri said. “He has brought millions of new fans to our sport.”
The International Series India will be the second major international tournament in the country in two months, with the Hero Indian Open (part of the DP World Tour) likely to be played in the last week of March.
The proposed dates for the International Series India have pros and cons. While it is likely to attract strong interest from LIV Golf League players, shorter daylight time will impact the number of players in the field.
