Chelsea’s resurgence under Enzo Maresca continued with a resounding 6-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux, while Newcastle salvaged a controversial 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
Maresca’s Blues made a blistering start, with Nicolas Jackson heading in from close range after just 98 seconds. Matheus Cunha equalized for Wolves, but Cole Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead before the break.
The second half was a goal-fest, with Noni Madueke scoring a hat-trick for Chelsea. The 22-year-old’s goals came in the 49th, 58th, and 75th minutes, with Palmer providing assists for two of them.
Joao Felix, who made his debut for Chelsea after his permanent move from Atletico Madrid, capped the rout with a goal in the 80th minute.
At the Vitality Stadium, Newcastle fell behind to a Marcus Tavernier goal in the 37th minute. However, Eddie Howe’s team equalized in the 76th minute through Anthony Gordon.
Bournemouth were denied a stoppage-time winner when VAR ruled that Dango Ouatarra had handled the ball before heading in.
The results leave Chelsea in 10th place in the Premier League table, while Wolves are 19th and Newcastle are 11th.
