Manchester United Thrash Leicester, Tottenham Eliminate Man City in League Cup

Manchester United’s interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy witnessed a remarkable performance from his team as they thrashed Leicester 5-2 in the English League Cup. The Red Devils scored four goals in the first 38 minutes, with Casemiro netting a brace, including a stunning strike from 30 meters. Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes also found the back of the net in that early flurry, while Fernandes added a fifth in the second half.

Tottenham Hotspur also advanced to the quarterfinals after eliminating Premier League leaders Manchester City 2-1. Timo Werner and Pape Sarr gave Spurs a two-goal lead before Matheus Nunes pulled one back for City. However, injuries to Savinho and Manuel Akanji further depleted Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Defending champions Liverpool continued their title defense with a 3-2 win over Brighton. Cody Gakpo scored twice, while Luis Diaz added a third. Newcastle United beat Chelsea 2-0 thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Axel Disasi, while Crystal Palace defeated Aston Villa 2-1.

The quarterfinals will feature an all-Premier League lineup for the first time in 14 years. Tottenham will face Manchester United, Arsenal will take on Crystal Palace, Newcastle will play Brentford, and Southampton will host Liverpool.
