Pep Guardiola masterclass powers Manchester City to the finals of Champions League

Manchester City thump Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League quarter-finals

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has dismantled Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at City’s home ground Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City, who are on a nine-game winning streak, saw them attack the opposition from the word go. And the English club succeeded, with Rodri scoring a stunning goal in the 27th minute. Manchester City made a string of attacks on the opposition’s defense never to allow them to settle.

In the second half, Bayern improved their performance. The Bundesliga table-toppers made counter-attacks but to no avail. However, Manchester City showcased the loopholes in Bayern’s defense as they scored two quick goals thanks to Bernardo Silva and City’s magic man Erling Haaland.

In the post-match interview, Guardiola stated, “We made some changes and our pressing was more effective. With the ball we were better too, and I’m happy for the result.”

Man City might be feeling comfortable with the win but their manager Pep Guardiola has strictly told the team not to be complacent with the win. Manchester City next face Leicester City in the Premier League. However, their real test will be in the second leg of the quarterfinals against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Thomas Tuchel set to be appointed as new Bayern Munich manager

Thomas Tuchel appointed as the new Bayern Munich manager

Major changes are happening at Bayern Munich. After slipping to the second position, the German club has decided to sack their manager, Julian Nagelsmann, with immediate effect. Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as the new boss of the Bundesliga champions.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Bayern has agreed to bring Thomas Tuchel as the club manager. Tuchel has been living in Munich for some weeks and has previously managed Borrusia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain. Thomas Tuchel has a win percentage of 56.62% across his coaching career thus far.

Under Nagelsmann, Bayern hasn’t played up to their potential, with the club facing a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga that saw them slip to the second position in the league. Although, the champions have played excellently in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich is through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League but faces a stiff test next against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The fixture sees Pep Guardiola take on his former side, with the tie winners set to face Real Madrid or Chelsea for a place in the final.

Breaking: Daley Blind signs a short-term deal with Bayern Munich

After much speculation, Netherlands international Daley Blind has made a shocking move to Bundesliga champs Bayern Munich. The Netherlands defender had been heavily linked with Royal Antwerp, but he jumped at the chance to join Bayern.

“I can hardly wait to play here. We’ve got the most important part of the season coming up, where it’s about titles – and a club like Bayern can win every trophy. The hunger for titles here at the club was key in my decision. I hope I can bring my experience to help the team. I’ll give everything for Bayern Munich,” Blind said in a release from Bayern Munich.

“We’re delighted that Daley is joining our team. Daley is a versatile defender, capable of playing on the left or in the centre. He has great international experience and leadership qualities. I’m sure he’ll help us,” sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said.

Blind left his former club Ajax unceremoniously. Across two spells at Ajax, he made over 300 appearances and won the Eredivisie on seven occasions – only Johan Cruyff and Sjaak Swart won more league titles with the Amsterdam giants with eight apiece. After knowing that one of his experienced players is leaving the club, Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar said, “I hope he can find another club to end his successful career with.”

Blind will be a massive boost for Bayern, with injuries to key players such as Lucas Hernandez and Manuel Neuer already ahead of their return to league action. Therefore, he could prove a strong addition to replace Hernandez.

Ronaldo to exit Man United

“Bayern will not sign Ronaldo”, says CEO Oliver Kahn

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich’s Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kahn has announced that his team will not be signing Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. This comes after several rumours surfaced that the German club will be signing the former Manchester United player since their latest signing, Sadio Mane, didn’t live up to the expectations.

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn announced, “I can rule out a move for Ronaldo. We’ve considered it, we all love Ronaldo, but the strategy is different.” He further said, “We’ve a clear idea, philosophy of how our squad should be put together.”

After weeks of drama, the former Manchester United attacker recently mutually decided to part ways with the club. The G.O.A.T. is currently without any club. However, there were many reports suggesting that he has got a mammoth $225 million offer from Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr. The deal will see Ronaldo bag a whopping $75 million deal in his late 30s.
