Oilers Win with Low-Scoring Victory, Stars and Golden Knights Tied 2-2

Oilers Win with Low-Scoring Victory, Stars and Golden Knights Tied 2-2

The Edmonton Oilers have showcased their versatility in the NHL playoffs, securing victories with both high-scoring and low-scoring performances. In their latest triumph, they defied expectations by winning Game 4 against the Los Angeles Kings with a mere 13 shots on net, with only one finding the back of the net.

This victory highlights the Oilers’ adaptability, as they previously tallied a combined 13 goals in the first two games of the series. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm emphasized the team’s ability to play different styles, stating, “Having in our portfolio that we can play a lot of different games is going to be huge here coming down the stretch.”

With a 3-1 series lead, the Oilers will aim to eliminate the Kings in Game 5 on Wednesday night. Los Angeles has struggled in the playoffs since winning the Stanley Cup in 2012, losing their last four series.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars and reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights are locked in a tight battle, with the series tied 2-2. The road team has won every game so far, with the Stars claiming both games in Vegas after losing twice at home.

Stars coach Pete DeBoer expressed confidence in his team’s performance, saying, “I don’t think we’ve played a poor game yet.” The Stars will have home-ice advantage for the remainder of the series, which could prove crucial.

In Game 4, Ty Dellandrea scored the game-winning goal for the Stars, despite being a healthy scratch in the previous two home games. He also played a key role in last year’s Western Conference Final against Vegas, scoring twice in Game 5.

The Kings and Oilers will face off in Edmonton on Wednesday night, with the Oilers looking to advance to the second round. The Golden Knights and Stars will also play Game 5 in Dallas, with the series poised for an exciting conclusion.

Wild End Kings’ Home Winning Streak, Kaprizov Shines

The Minnesota Wild snapped the Los Angeles Kings’ eight-game home winning streak with a 3-1 victory on Monday night, fueled by a goal and an assist from Kirill Kaprizov.

Matt Boldy opened the scoring for the Wild in the first period, capitalizing on a power play to beat Cam Talbot between the legs. Ryan Hartman doubled the lead late in the second period, assisted by Kaprizov.

Kaprizov then showcased his skill in the third period, banking in a goal off Talbot from behind the net to reach the 45-goal mark. Blake Lizotte scored a consolation goal for the Kings with just over five minutes remaining, but it was too little too late.

Filip Gustavsson made 28 saves for the Wild, while Talbot allowed three goals on 25 shots for the Kings.

The victory was crucial for the Wild, who had been outscored 13-3 in their previous two games against the Kings. It also kept them in contention for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

For the Kings, the loss was a setback in their pursuit of third place in the Pacific Division. They remain one point ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights, who have a game in hand.

Wyatt Johnston sealed the win with a power-play goal in the third period.

The Stars’ victory keeps them atop the Central Division with 89 points, four ahead of Winnipeg and Colorado. The Kings, meanwhile, remain tied for third in the Pacific Division with Vegas at 75 points.

The Kings got off to a fast start when Kevin Fiala scored just 26 seconds into the game, but the Stars quickly responded. Faksa tied the game at 1-1 with a snap shot from high in the slot at 10:34, and Robertson put the Stars ahead 2-1 just 18 seconds later.

Scott Wedgewood made 26 saves in his first game since Feb. 26 to earn the win for the Stars. Cam Talbot made 31 saves for the Kings.

The Stars will host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, while the Kings will host the New York Islanders on Monday night.

Kings Crush Devils 5-1, Extend Winning Streak to Eight

The Los Angeles Kings extended their winning streak to eight games under interim coach Jim Hiller with a dominant 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. Phillip Danault led the charge with a hat trick, while Kevin Fiala contributed a goal and two assists.

The Devils took an early lead just 15 seconds into the game when Timo Meier capitalized on a deflection off the stanchion. However, the Kings responded swiftly, with Danault tying the score on a breakaway set up by Fiala’s stretch pass. Alex Laferriere, a New Jersey native, gave the Kings the lead with a goal late in the first period.

The Kings continued to dominate in the second period, with Danault scoring into an open net and Fiala adding a power-play goal to chase Devils goalie Nico Daws from the game. Danault completed his hat trick with an empty-netter in the third period.

Cam Talbot made 30 saves for the Kings, while Akira Schmid stopped eight shots in relief for the Devils. The Kings have now won eight of their last 12 games under Hiller, who replaced Todd McLellan on February 2.

The Devils, on the other hand, have lost five of their last seven games. They will look to bounce back when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. The Kings will also be in action on Tuesday, hosting the Vancouver Canucks.
