Wilson RF 01: A Versatile All-Court Racket for Intermediate to Advanced Players

The Wilson RF 01 tennis racket is the middle child of the new three-racquet RF collection, sitting between the heavier Pro and the lighter Future models. It features a SABR Frame Design with a dual taper beam for enhanced aerodynamics and easy acceleration, an integrated bumper and grommet design (Glide Guard) for reduced air resistance, and Braid 45 integrated into the layup for improved ball-pocketing, stability, and feel. Feel Fill polyurethane foam is injected throughout the frame to reduce vibrations and enhance the sensation at contact.

At 300g, the RF 01 is lighter than the Pro, making it quicker through the hitting zone and more manageable to handle over the course of a match. Despite its lighter weight, it still manages to be quite solid, providing enough stability and plow-through for most players. The taper beam assists with off-center contact, offering a bit of forgiveness without compromising trust in the racket.

The RF 01’s tightish string pattern in the sweet spot allows for precise shot direction, making it well-suited for staying on the front foot and pressing the offense. The softer flex compared to the Pro model provides a more comfortable feel at contact, reducing arm fatigue without sacrificing performance.

While the RF 01’s spin output is modest compared to other 98-inch head size rackets with a 16×19 string pattern, it still offers decent spin generation. The conservative string spacing at the point of contact can make the sweet spot seem a little small, but this can be addressed through customization.

Overall, the Wilson RF 01 is a versatile all-court racket that offers a balance of power, control, and feel. It is a great option for intermediate to advanced players who prefer a lighter and more maneuverable racket without sacrificing performance.
