Neymar Eyes Long-Term Saudi Arabia Stay Despite Injury Concerns

Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has expressed his desire to continue playing in Saudi Arabia despite recent injury setbacks and rumors of a potential contract termination by his club, Al-Hilal.

Neymar, once hailed as the heir to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, has faced persistent injuries that have hindered his career. After a high-profile transfer to Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in August 2022, the 31-year-old winger has only managed to play seven games for the Saudi Arabian club.

A recent hamstring injury sustained in his return to action after a year-long absence has raised concerns about his fitness. Speculation in Saudi Arabian media suggests that Al-Hilal may not register Neymar for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season, despite his contract running until June 2025.

However, Neymar has dismissed these rumors, stating that he is enjoying his time in Saudi Arabia and believes it is a great place to play football. He has encouraged other players to explore the opportunities available in the country.

“The opportunity to play here and live in a country like this is very important for people,” Neymar said. “I’m very happy and I’m sure it will only get better. I’m sure other stars will come here. I believe that many will have the opportunity to come here, and I think that everyone should have the opportunity to experience what I have experienced here.”

Neymar’s comments come as his former club, Santos, secured their return to the top tier of Brazilian soccer next year. The club hopes that Neymar will eventually return to his boyhood club, where he achieved global fame alongside Pelé.
