Rohit Sharma Becomes Second Player to Reach 250 IPL Matches

Rohit Sharma, the former Mumbai Indians captain, has become only the second player after MS Dhoni to reach the milestone of 250 Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Sharma achieved this feat during MI’s match against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.

Sharma’s IPL journey began in 2008 with the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. He joined MI in 2011 and has led the franchise to five IPL titles. In his 249 previous IPL matches, Sharma has amassed 6472 runs at an average of 30.10 and a strike rate of 131.22. He has scored two centuries and 42 half-centuries.

In MI’s last match against Chennai Super Kings, Sharma scored an unbeaten 105, but his team fell short by 20 runs. MI’s three-match losing streak was broken with victories against Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but a defeat to CSK halted their momentum.

Both Mumbai and Punjab are coming off losses in their last games and have each lost four games. The pressure to perform will be intense on both teams.
