Juventus docked 10 vital points for reasons pertaining to financial breach

Serie A giants Juventus have been slapped with a 10-point penalty following an Italian court’s order for false accounting in the club’s transfer dealings. The 10 points deduction dropped Juventus from second to seventh position in the Serie A table.

Following the announcement, Juventus in a statement said, “What was established by the fifth instance of judgment in this matter, which began more than a year ago, arouses great bitterness in the club and in its millions of supporters who, in the absence of clear rules, find themselves extremely penalized with the application of sanctions that do not seem to take into account the principle of proportionality.”

The club further added, “While not ignoring the need for urgency, which Juventus has never shied away from during the proceedings, it is emphasized that these are facts that still have to be evaluated by a judge.”

The Massimiliano Allegri-led side was handed a 15-point penalty in January while several members of Juventus’ former board were also given bans from soccer activities, including former president Andrea Agnelli. However, the decision was reversed on an appeal to the country’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee, and referred back to the soccer federation’s appeals court for a new trial.

The fresh trial happened yesterday as federation prosecutor Giuseppe Chine requested an 11-point penalty for Juventus. Chine also requested eight-month bans for seven former Juventus directors, including Pavel Nedvěd, but they were cleared.

The decision had an irreversible impact on the Bianconeri as the club lost 4-1 against Empoli, a club that is placed 14th on the points table. Juventus are currently placed seventh in the Serie A table. The club has 59 points from 36 games and is currently out of contention for the Champions League.

This explanation is bolstered by the fact that Ronaldo often resorts to celebration after scoring crucial or remarkable goals, such as those in a decisive match or a championship final.

An alternative theory is that “siuuuu” alludes to the Spanish word “sí,” which translates to “yes.” This explanation stems from Ronaldo’s extended stints with Spanish clubs, first with Real Madrid and now with Juventus. Moreover, the prolonged “uuuuu” sound at the end of the celebration might serve to extend the “sí” sound, highlighting the affirmative character of the term.

Some observers have speculated that “siuuuu” is a nod to Ronaldo’s name or initials. The “si” sound could be a truncated form of “Cristiano,” while the “uuuuu” sound could be construed as an elongation of the “o” sound in his surname. Nonetheless, this interpretation appears less plausible since Ronaldo has never publicly declared that the celebration is related to his name.

Regardless of its precise meaning, there’s no denying that “siuuuu” has become an integral part of Ronaldo’s public persona. The celebration is often imitated by fans and fellow players, and it has even spawned its line of merchandise, including t-shirts and phone cases. For many football fans, “siuuuu” is synonymous with Ronaldo himself, representing not just his on-field success but also his larger-than-life personality and charisma.

Of course, Ronaldo is not the only footballer to have a signature celebration. From Lionel Messi’s finger-pointing to Kylian Mbappe’s crossed arms, many players have their own unique ways of celebrating a goal. However, few celebrations have become as iconic or recognizable as Ronaldo’s “siuuuu.” The fact that the celebration has no clear meaning or explanation only adds to its mystique, allowing fans to interpret it in their way and imbue it with their meanings and emotions.

In conclusion, Ronaldo’s “siuuuu” celebration is a testament to the power of football to capture the imagination and passion of fans around the world. While its precise meaning may remain a mystery, its impact on the sport and Ronaldo’s legacy is undeniable. Whether he’s playing for Real Madrid, Juventus, or the Portuguese national team, fans will always associate Ronaldo with his signature celebration and will continue to celebrate and emulate it for years to come.

Ronaldo explains the meaning of “Siiuuu”:

According to Ronaldo, “Siiuu” is a personal mantra that he developed to inspire himself. It is an expression of his joy and passion for the game, and he started using it during his time at Real Madrid as a way to celebrate his goals and to pump himself up for the next challenge.

“I started to say ‘si’, it’s like ‘yes’, when I was in Real Madrid,” Ronaldo once explained in an interview.

“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea and I don’t know where this is coming from the celebration. I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest. Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they’re like ‘Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuu’.

“I’m like ‘Wow! People are reminded of me because of it!’ So it’s good, and I’ll continue doing it like that.” When we win, everyone says ‘Siuuu’ and I started to say it, I don’t know why. It was natural,” said Ronaldo to DAZN Italia. “I scored a goal and I did that [the celebration]. People asked me why did I do it and I don’t know why. It was natural! Because I always say, the best things come naturally,” added the Portuguese superstar.

In an interview with DAZN, Ronaldo explained that the “Siiuu” celebration is meant to symbolize the idea of never giving up, always pushing forward, and striving for greatness. He also mentioned that the inspiration for the celebration came from striker Ricardo Quaresma, his former teammate at Sporting Lisbon, and the Portuguese national team, who used to make a similar sound after scoring a goal.

How does Cristiano Ronaldo do the Siuuu goal celebration?

The beauty of Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Siiuuu” goal celebration lies in its simplicity, as anyone can do it with ease. To perform the celebration, you must take a small run-up, jump with momentum, rotate your body in a pirouette while in the air, and land with your legs and hands outstretched.

Executing the “Siiuuu” celebration accurately requires careful attention to the positioning of the legs. They must be spread wide in a “power stance” to emphasize a heroic landing. The arms play a critical role as well, starting in an X shape across the chest and then extending out wide and fully stretched.

The final element of the “Siiuuu” celebration is perhaps the most important. The player must turn their back to the fans, allowing them to see the name and number on their jersey. The celebration culminates with the player shouting “Siuuu!” as a triumphant expression of their joy and passion for the game.

“Why does Ronaldo do the “siuuuu” celebration?”

There is more to explore about Ronaldo’s “siuuuu” celebration. While the origins and meaning of the term remain somewhat ambiguous, some additional factors may have contributed to its popularity and appeal.

For one, the celebration is visually distinctive and memorable. When Ronaldo scores a goal, he typically runs toward the crowd with his arms outstretched and lets out a loud, sustained “siuuuu” sound. This creates a striking image that is instantly recognizable and easy to imitate. Additionally, the sound of the celebration is easy to remember and repeat, making it a catchy and infectious meme that can spread quickly through social media.

Another possible explanation for the popularity of “siuuuu” is its association with Ronaldo’s brand. Over the years, Ronaldo has cultivated a public image as a confident, charismatic, and stylish athlete. The “siuuuu” celebration seems to embody these qualities, as it is a bold and attention-grabbing expression of excitement and triumph. By adopting the celebration as his own, Ronaldo has made it a symbol of his success and self-confidence, further enhancing his public persona.

It’s also worth noting that Ronaldo has used the “siuuuu” celebration in a variety of contexts. While it is most commonly associated with his goal-scoring exploits, he has also used the celebration in other situations, such as when he won the Ballon d’Or award in 2017. This versatility has helped to make the celebration a more multifaceted and adaptable part of Ronaldo’s public image and may have contributed to its staying power.

It’s interesting to compare Ronaldo’s “siuuuu” celebration to other famous football celebrations. For example, Lionel Messi’s finger-pointing gesture is similarly iconic and memorable, but it has a more specific meaning and origin (it was reportedly inspired by Messi’s grandmother, who would point to the sky after every goal he scored as a child). Similarly, Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” goal celebration at the 1986 World Cup is a historic moment that is forever etched in football lore, but it is less of a celebration and more of an act of subterfuge.

In contrast, Ronaldo’s “siuuuu” celebration is a more open-ended and flexible expression of emotion and excitement. While its origins and meaning may be elusive, its universal appeal and popularity are undeniable. Whether you’re a die-hard Ronaldo fan or simply a casual observer of the sport, it’s hard not to feel a thrill of excitement when you hear that distinctive “siuuuu” sound echoing through a stadium.

David de Gea howler costs Manchester United the game against West Ham United

Manchester United who were comfortably sitting on the third position in the Premier League have been dropped down from their position as the Red Devils lost to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

West Ham won 1-0 as Said Benrahma’s long-range strike went in as star goalie David de Gea missed the easy shot. De Gea let Said Benrahma’s hopeful shot from 20 yards slip over his glove to condemn Erik Ten Hag’s side to back-to-back defeats.

The defeat has left Manchester United in the fourth position, two points behind third-placed Newcastle United. Also, the Red Devils now lie just one point ahead of a rapidly advancing Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand.

United boss Erik Ten Hag was seen being frustrated with the result. In a post-match interview, he commented, “Frustrating? Yes, I’ve seen it in the same way. I think we started well, dictated the game, created chances, didn’t take them and then one mistake.” He further stated, “Twice individual mistakes and you lose games. But it is what it is. Now we have a full week, we have to reset, reload and keep going.”

West Ham United manager David Moyes was happy with his team’s efforts. The former Manchester United boss felt that playing consecutive games within a space of three days was the major factor that contributed to his team’s win. In one of the post-match interviews, Moyes stated, “I feel a lot for Manchester United. They played Brighton on Thursday, they’ve had to play here on Sunday night. That two-day recovery… took the edge out of Manchester United tonight.”

Manchester United now have four games left. The Old Trafford-based club will look to put this loss behind them and make the most of the games ahead. Manchester United next face Wolverhampton Wolves on May 13 at Old Trafford.

How India can be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026?

How India can be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026?

The FIFA World Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the world of sports. It brings together nations from across the globe to compete in the game of football, and the event is watched by billions of fans worldwide. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 scheduled to take place in North America, there is a growing interest in India’s participation in the tournament.

Football fans in India are eagerly anticipating the possibility of their national team, the Blue Tigers, qualifying for the next World Cup hosted in North America. The tournament will be expanded to include 48 teams instead of the previous 32, which has piqued the interest of Indian fans even further. With the growth of the Indian Super League, the Indian football team has been showing signs of improvement in recent years, raising hopes for potential qualification. While it remains a slim chance, the idea of India competing at the World Cup is an exciting prospect for football enthusiasts across the country. This article will explore how India can be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

How India can be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026?

The recent expansion of the World Cup format to include 48 teams has resulted in a significant increase in the number of slots for Asian teams, with 8.5 spots up for grabs as compared to the previous 4.5. Given their current FIFA ranking of 19th amongst Asian nations, India would not be required to participate in the first round of the Asian qualification process and can begin their journey from Preliminary Round 2. This presents an exciting opportunity for the Indian football team to showcase their skills on a global stage and potentially secure a spot at the World Cup.

The Preliminary Round 2 of the Asian qualification process for the World Cup is set to begin in November 2023 and will feature 36 teams divided into 9 groups. The matches will take place over several months, with six matchdays scheduled until June 24, 2024. It is during this stage that the Indian football team will need to make significant strides and strive to finish in one of the top two spots in their group to progress to the next round of the qualifiers. It will be a challenging task, as they will be competing against other strong teams in their group, but with determination and hard work, India may be able to secure a spot in the next round.

While the opportunity for India to qualify for the World Cup is exciting, the task at hand remains daunting for the Blue Tigers. Currently ranked 106th in the world, India is a long way off from being among the top 8 nations in Asia. Even when India had achieved their best ranking of 94, they were still well outside of the continent’s top 10. Furthermore, India’s record against Asia’s top nations has been less than promising, which may pose a significant challenge in their bid for World Cup qualification. Nonetheless, the Indian football team needs to remain focused and committed to improving their game, as there is still a chance for them to make history and qualify for the World Cup.

The Indian football team’s recent record against Asia’s top teams has been mixed, with the best results being draws against teams like Oman, Syria, and China. However, the team has struggled against lower-ranked teams like the Maldives, Tajikistan, and North Korea.

Additionally, India has drawn against teams like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, which suggests that there is still much work to be done to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Achieving this feat would require a tremendous amount of effort, focus, and improvement on the part of the Indian football team. While the task at hand may seem daunting, the team must remain optimistic and dedicated to their goal of qualifying for the World Cup. With the right approach and hard work, anything is possible.

Challenges team India will have in front of them:

India understands that qualifying for the FIFA World Cup is no easy feat, regardless of the teams they are grouped with the qualifiers. There are no restrictions on which AFC teams can face each other during the qualification process. This means that India may find themselves up against some of the strongest teams in Asia, making their path to qualification all the more challenging. However, this should not deter the Indian football team from pursuing their goal of making it to the World Cup. With a focused and determined approach, they can work towards improving their game and competing at the highest level.

Although there are different pots consisting of teams based on rankings, this does not necessarily mean that Asian nations cannot be grouped with their neighboring countries. India can be drawn against fellow South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) teams in the World Cup qualifiers. This could potentially make the road to qualification even more challenging for India, as they will be facing teams that are familiar with their playing style and tactics. Nonetheless, the Indian football team needs to remain focused and committed to improving their game, regardless of which teams they are drawn against. By continuing to work hard and persevere, they can increase their chances of making it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

India could potentially be paired against neighboring South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) teams like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal in the World Cup qualifiers. This is not a new scenario for the Indian football team, as they were grouped with Bangladesh in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers as well. However, regardless of the opponents they face, India must focus on improving their game and working towards their ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Cup. The team must approach every match with determination and a winning mindset to increase their chances of success.

What are the aspects India should concentrate on?

The first and most important factor for India’s participation in the FIFA World Cup is the team’s performance. India’s national football team has not been able to qualify for the World Cup since its inception in 1930. India’s highest ranking in the FIFA rankings has been 97th, which was achieved in 1996. To be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026, India needs to improve its performance in the game of football. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) needs to create a plan to develop the sport at the grassroots level and to invest in the development of young talent. This will require a long-term commitment and sustained efforts, but it is necessary for India’s participation in the World Cup.

Another important factor for India’s participation in the World Cup is the infrastructure assuming that India will host FIFA World Cup in the coming future and hence get a chance to feature in it. The FIFA World Cup is a massive event, and it requires state-of-the-art infrastructure for the players, spectators, and media. The AIFF needs to work closely with the government and private sector to build the necessary infrastructure. This includes building world-class stadiums, training facilities, hotels, and transportation. The AIFF can also learn from the experiences of other countries like Qatar that have hosted the World Cup in the past. This will help India to avoid the mistakes made by other countries and to create a successful and memorable event.

In addition to infrastructure, the AIFF also needs to focus on promoting the sport of football in India. The FIFA World Cup is not just a sporting event; it is also an opportunity to promote the country’s culture, heritage, and tourism. The AIFF can work with the government and tourism industry to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage to the world. This can be done through events and activities that promote the country’s food, music, art, and history. Such events will attract more tourists to India and create a positive image of the country in the world.

The AIFF can also work with the media to create awareness about the sport of football in India. Football is the most popular sport in the world, and it is watched by billions of people worldwide. The AIFF can use this popularity to create interest in the sport in India. This can be done through television, radio, and print media. The AIFF can also use social media to reach out to a younger audience and create a buzz around the sport.

One of the biggest challenges that India faces in its quest to be part of the FIFA World Cup is the lack of funding. Football is not as popular in India as cricket, and this has resulted in a lack of funding for the sport. The AIFF needs to work with the government and private sector to secure funding for the development of the sport. The government can provide tax incentives and subsidies to private investors who invest in the sport. The private sector can also be encouraged to invest in the sport through sponsorships, advertising, and other promotional activities.

Another important factor for India’s participation in the FIFA World Cup is the development of the players. Football is a team sport, and the success of a team depends on the quality of its players. The AIFF needs to create a development program for young players that focuses on their technical, tactical, and physical abilities. The program should also focus on the mental and psychological development of the players. This will create a pool of talented players who can represent India at the international level.
